Author of the infamous "Puppy Buyer Etiquette" has another must read for all dog owners (and certainly all breeders). Take a moment from puppy photos/puppy cam to read "What is a Sound Dog" by Joanna Kimball. In sum, soundness means:
"An animal whose body easily and naturally performs functions in the very best and most efficient and most pain-free way."
In Vizslas, "soundness" is just as relevant for hunting all day in the field/competing in agility OR playing frisbee at dog beach/accompanying their owner on hiking trails, etc. You want a dog who will not break down over time. Soundness and correct structure is part of the conformation evaluation of showing, and one of the reasons reputable breeders prove their dogs in competition.
One of the most "sound" dog's I've ever laid eyes on is Zene's father, "Rocky" (GCH/Can CH Captivatin' Ain't He a Knockow't).
Evenly balanced, standing . . .
or moving.
